About Us

Dark Symphony

Hi Everybody, welcome to the Dark Symphony website. My name is Michael Golchuk and together with my wife and partner Donna Golchuk, we are Dark Symphony, the Band. I call us a band because there are 5 instruments plus vocals in the music, even though we are only 2 musicians. Sometimes, you can't find musicians who want to play original music. I guess, old school would be forming a band to play the music. Now, I don't need the band as I play all the instruments, but playing alone isn't any fun. I taught my lovely wife Donna to play the Bass, and the Drums, and now she is her own musician. She is the Base player and the Drummer for the band Dark Symphony, and now, she is about to record her 2nd Album Dark Symphony Album 2.

Myself, I learned to play the electric guitar at an early age. I am thankful to my parents, who forged on and made me stick to guitar lessons. I hated guitar lessons, and at the same time I loved guitar lessons.

The Music

So, why the name Dark Symphony? Dark Symphony was the name of my High School band way back when. I wrote 3 songs for the band, in which we entered a talent contest. We came in 3rd place out of 240 some odd entries. The band dissolved after that. Then life came.

I started a video and sound production company when I met Donna. I started to play guitar again, and introduced Donna to the Base guitar, which she chose as her instrument, and we made music as a basement band for many years. We've had some really great musicians play with us throughout the years, but again, life happened. So, we decided to record and publish the music, as well as, write some new stuff.

The music that I write is originally generally sad. I write about love and life. When I take a "sit back" and look at what we have created, then I have to say that this music is truly a Dark Symphony. A symphony is instruments combining to form beautiful music. A dark symphony, to me, would be sad, beautiful music. I don't like slow things, especially slow draggy music, so together with my Bass/Drummer and myself, we give the music a beat.

The music reflects the Artist who is writing it. Dark Symphony Album 1 is a mixture of some old songs, and a lot of new writing. My old music (as I call it) was a lot of doom and gloom because life was that way. Songs like Freedom and Moonglow, are downer songs with a toe tapping beat. I believe that an Album should immerse the audience in an emotional roller coaster ride. Take you up and take you down, then take you up again, emotionally. So, I hope you enjoy the ride.

Golchuk Productions Inc. is our company. By trade, Donna and I are video and sound producers, with green screen compositions. I also have a 3D background, and web design.

So, we as musicians and artists have our own production company which we can, and do, access 24/7. We are the Artists in front of the camera, and we are the technicians behind the camera.
